Marjorie Boyles {Artist and Educator}
Digital Painting and Collage
These works are inspired by: yoga poses, the negative space created by them and the shadows they cast, song lyrics, or classical paintings. This is enough to start on a piece, and then I allow the process to guide my choices. This sometimes leads to larger works in paint that use the physicality of paint to create an environment that can be used for meditation, contemplation, and visualization to aid in imagining alternate realities. My work is connected to intuition and the satisfaction of creating and tapping into the "flow" experience as elucidated by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.
I revist and reflect on heroic themes and womens roles. Fierce woman are tiger-like. So many of my fierce womem friends are the next generation of women who are trying to have it all.
