45th Parallel Tonewood

 

In 2008 Quentin and Kevin Prestwitch started their quest for the perfect tonewood.

Kevin uses his access and knowledge of the great woods of Idaho to serch and claim the best trees for making instruments.  Spruce from the 45th parallel is what  Stadavarius used to create the iconic sound of his violins.  In America, we at 45th Paralell Tonewood are harvesters and suppliers of master grade Engelmann Spruce tonewood from the mountains of Central Idaho that run along the 45th paralell. We supply wood to builders of violin, viola, cello, double bass, mandolin and guitar. We also harvest and supply Oregon Big Leaf Maple, Lombardi Poplar and other hardwoods.
